my incredible journey: no lola

I was born a healthy, sweet, quiet baby on January 20, 2003 through cesarian section.
At three weeks, my umbilical chord started bleeding again while my relatives from the US came over for a visit.

What was supposed to be a regular check-up with the doctor at the Baguio Medical Center turned out to be a schedule for a first-stage surgery to cure my Congenital Hirshprung's Disease.

I came out of the surgery room after 4 hours pale and cold. I arrived home with a colostomy and lived with it for 2 years.

After 2 years, I had my second operation at the Philippine General Hospital. One and a half years later, my colostomy was finally closed in the same hospital.

My doctors sensed that there was something else wrong with me because I don't have eye contact and cannot speak well. They said that I have to see a pediatric specialist.

A few months after recovery, I went to see a doctor in Notre Dame. That was when I found out that I had Global Developmental Delay and signs of Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

And so, my journey begins. I am going through speech therapy twice a week. I am also going to a montessori school in La Trinidad.

The kindness and patience of the people around has helped me improve my condition and look at the world closer to how it should be seen. But I guess, right now, my world is a lot more colorful.
